4-H SCIENCE FAIR

Open to Boys and Girls in Grades 4 - 12
Grades should be as of September 1, 2010.
Entry may be made between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
on Saturday, September 18.
Entries must be picked up Sunday, September 26 between 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Awards: $5; $4; $3
All entries MUST follow the scientific method of
investigation. The Scientific Method involves the following
steps:
1.
Observation-You
observe something in the material world, using your senses or
machines, which are basically extensions of those senses.
2.
Question-You ask a
question about what you observe.
3.
Hypothesis-You
predict what you think the answer to your question might be.
4.
Method-You figure
out a way to test whether hypothesis is correct.
The outcome must be measurable (quantifiable).
5.
Result-You do the
experiment using the method you came up with and record the results.
6.
Conclusion-You
state whether your prediction was confirmed or not and try to
explain your results.
Tell the story of your project-tell what you did and exactly how you
did it.
All exhibits
must be on poster board no longer than 28” x 22”. Cardboard, foam
core, and cardboard triboards will not be accepted. All entries must
be suitable for hanging with all parts of the exhibit attached to
the display board so that it can be picked up as one unit to hang.
Nothing will be allowed to sit in front of the display board. Any
Food mounted to display must be in plastic bags. Name, School and
category must be on back only. A collection does not qualify for a
Science Fair Project.
